The Rolling Hills Estates City Council will discuss possible changes to city ordinances relating to boarding horses and horse stable requirements. The meeting will be held at the Rolling Hills City Council chambers at 4045 Palos Verdes Dr. North beginning at 8 pm tonight.
Currently, a property;s lot must be a minimum of 20,000 sq. ft. in order to board from 2 to 4 horses. The proposed changes would, instead of a minimum square footage requirement for the lot, impose new rules relating to keeping the horses. For instance, fenced corral areas would need to be a minimum of 800 sq. ft. for the first horse and 300 sq. ft. for each additional horse. No dimension of a horse keeping area could be less than 12 feet in length. There must also be a setback from existing homes of at least 35 feet, and 10 feet from a pool.
