The Rancho Palos Verdes City Counciil will be discussing the potential future of the beach below Trump National Golf Course which is now owned by the City. at their meeting at Hesse Park at 7 pm tonight The public has been using the beach as an off leash dog beach, even though city ordinances prohibit dogs running off leash within the city limits. A recent count had 76 dog owners on the beach on a recent weekend.
Council will consider directing staff to conduct public outreach on future uses of the beach and research pros and cons of dog beaches. The beach parcel extends north to the private beach owned by the Portuguese Bend Club, and south to approximately the mid-point of the Trump National Golf Club.
City staff also met last night with local Ladera Linda homeowners to discuss future potential use of the park area and the existing community rooms on the site. The City recently terminated their existing lease of the community room, and the City is beginning a public outreach program to discuss future uses of the existing building and the park area
Potential uses at the Ladera Linda site includes both a skate board park as well as a dog park. It is my opinion that both uses would be a great use at the park.
