The Sante Fe railroad provided rail service to the piers. [...]

No change in Mortgage Rates

Interest rates stayed about the same last week .The following are excerpts from the newsletter on interest rates published by HSH Associates : "After several weeks of being boosted by good news, the rise in mortgage rates seems to have run out of steam. Without a continuing stream of improving economic data, there just isn't enough momentum to create a sustained rise. The rally in stock markets which has attracted investor cash seems to have come to a halt, too, and it wouldn't surprise us at all if we saw some [...]

Major stock market indexes across the globe put in some of their best January gains in years, all coming at the expense of bonds, whose yields rise as investor demand wanes. Even with its massive balance [...]

Why Good Economic News may be bad for Real Estate

Most real estate agents assume that good economic news will help the real estate market. In some respects, it will, as buyers become more confident in the economy and their job security and move from the side lines and actively look at buying property. One significant impact that an improving economy will have, however, especially when the Federal Reserve decides that they no longer need to keep interest rates low to stimulate the economy, is that mortgage interest rates are bound to increase. As interest rates increase, the ability of buyers to [...]
