City of Palos Verdes Estates 4th Quarter 2012 Real Estate Market Report
The number of homes listed for sale in the City of Palos Verdes Estates dropped significantly at the end of 2011, and remains extremely low. with only 22 homes listed for sale at the end of the fourth quarter, which is 46% lower than the end of the 4th quarter a year ago. The average number of homes sold per month during this same period has stayed about the same as last year's 4th quarter, averaging 11 sales per month. Federal Debt Foregiveness Act Extended by Fiscal Cliff Tax Deal
The fiscal cliff tax legislation passed a view days ago did include a couple of things positively affecting real estate. The Debt Forgiveness Act of 2007 was extended for another year, so homeowners lucky enough to secure a loan modification which included principal reduction, a short-sale or an underwater deed-in-lieu transaction won't find the tax man looking for a non-existent cut of the "gift" from lender to borrower. Christmas Tree Pickup Schedule for Palos Verdes Estates
Athens will pick up trees from the curb Dec. 26 through Jan. 11 in Palos Verdes Estates on regular trash pickup days. The same rules apply for the other Palos Verdes cities -- no decorations, no tree stands and trees over 6 feet tall must be cut in half. Christmas Tree Pick Up Schedule for Rancho Palos Verdes
EDCO, the city's waste hauler, will collect trees from the curbs of single family residences on regular collection days starting on Dec. 26 and ending on Jan. 11. The waste hauler requires that all trees be free of decorations and tree stands before pickup. Trees taller than 6 feet must be cut in half. All trees should be placed in the green recycling carts or bundled together for collection. If bundled, the bundle should not exceed 4 feet by 18 inches. Waste Management will collect the trees Dec. 26 through Jan. 16. All decorations, tree stands, plastic containers and tinsel must be removed from the tree before collection. Gray Whale Watching Season Begins
While the holiday season may be winding down, the gray whale watching season is just starting to ramp up.
