The real estate market in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes appeares to be stabilizing .Inventory was down to only 82 homes listed for sale as of the end of the 3rd quarter, which is a 37% decrease from the comparable time last year. The Point Vicente Lighthouse The Point Vicente lighthouse is located in Rancho Palos Verdes on the outcropping of land with the same name. Capt. George Vancouver, the English explorer, originally named the area Point Vincente in 1790 after the Friar of Mission Buenaventura. The name was changed to Point Vicente in 1933. The number of homes listed for sale in the City of Palos Verdes Estates had been relatively steady, averaging 78 homes through most of 2011, but dropped substantially in December and has remained very low since then, and is down to only 40 homes on the market at the end of August down about 49% compared to a year ago. The average number of homes sold per month during the previous 3 months has averaged about 16 sales per month, with 9 homes in escrow as of the end of August. [...]

My husband Bruce and I just got back from a wonderful eastern Mediterranean cruise which took us to Kotor Montenegro, Athens, Istanbul, Ephesus Turkey, Santorini, and Split Croatia. The inventory of unsold condos and townhomes on the Palos Verdes Peninsula of 42 units has shrunk significantly over the last 12 months, and is down approx. 37% compared to a year ago. The average number of sales per month over the last 3 months of 17 units per month is up 21% from a year ago,with 18 units sold in July.
