Adding a Skylight can make a world of difference

I am working with a client who is preparing her home for sale. Her home is beautiful, and they have done a great job of landscaping, renovating their kitchen, and placement of furniture, but the only negative about the home is the master bathroom. You enter the bath from a master bedroom with a vaulted ceiling into a bathroom that only has a little over 7 foot ceiling and no natural light. How do you fix this problem. My suggestion is to install a skylight with a shaft flaring out from [...]

MANHATTAN / HERMOSA PIERS

The following is one of a series of articles on South Bay History that I have had published in the South Bay Digs magazine: MANHATTAN / HERMOSA PIERS Among the first structures built in Manhattan Beach were two wooden piers built in 1901, one at Center Street (later renamed Manhattan Beach Boulevard) and one at Marine Avenue called Peck's Pier and Pavilion. Original €œold iron pier€ - First Manhattan Beach Pier The Center street pier was believed to have been 900-feet long. Pylons were made by fastening three railroad rails together [...]

California SB 458 – What Does It Really Mean for California short sales ????

Gov. Jerry Brown recently signed SB 458 (Corbett) into law. SB 458 extends the protections of SB 931 (2010), to ensure that any lender that agrees to a short sale must accept the agreed upon short sale payment as payment in full of the outstanding balance of all loans. Under previous law (SB 931 of 2010), if a first mortgage holder accepted an agreed-upon short sale payment as full payment for the outstanding balance of the loan, they could not pursue a deficiency judgment, but unfortunately, the rule did not apply to [...]
