When constructing a home in Palos Verdes Estates, there are certain restrictions as to the size of the structure as well as the magnitude of hardscape and the compatability of the structure to the neighborhood. Per deed restrictions, the Palos Verdes Art Jury restricts the footprint of all structures on the site to 30% of the total lot size. The total square footage of the structures (which would include the garage, pool houses, etc. ) can include an additional 1,750 square feet in either a second story or a basement level or subterranean parking garage.

In addition, the City of Palos Verdes Estates limits the total lot coverage for structures as well as all hardscape features such as patios, driveways, pools, etc. to 65% of the lot area.
