The Lunada Bayhouse Restaurant, a new restaurant specializing in Seafood, Steaks, and Chops has been open in the Lunada Bay Plaza Building in the former Viva La Pasta/ Tallichet’s restaurant location in the Lunada Bay Plaza for a couple of months, and is now one of my husband’s and my favorite restaurants.

The menu is full of my favorites. So many menus you look at and only see a few items that sound good, but everything on this menu sounds good. The fish dishes are fantastic with delicious sauces. The appetizers are wonderful, especially the crab quesadilla. Everytime someone in my party has ordered the steaks or chops, they have been cooked perfectly.

The owners also own and operate Delzano’s by the Sea and Lou E Luey’s restaurants in Redondo Beach, and they are great people. Rafael is the head chef and loves to come up with daily specials. He loves to talk with the customers, so ask for him when you come in. David Letchworth is the other owner and is also a terrific guy. He is there most nights and you will also enjoy talking with him.

A recent critique in the Daily Breeze stated “The room is comfortable, with a friendly bar near the entrance, and enough space that you don’t feel crowded while you work on your blue crab quesadilla, your Cajun crab cakes and your chicken potstickers. There’s a snappy bisque built around roasted corn and yet more blue crab. And both the popcorn rock shrimp and the fried calamari are properly crispy…the cooking at Lunada Bayhouse is based on familiarity. There’s very little on the menu you haven’t eaten before, from the shrimp scampi to the sauteed mahi; from the grilled salmon to the baby back ribs; from the rack of lamb to the New York; from the rib chop to the pork chop. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Sometimes (often times?) you just want a good meal. And Lunada Bayhouse is there to do just that.”

They plan to be open in the evenings for dinner, and may open up for lunch at a later date. Reservations may be made at 310-544-1704. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
