Vanden Bos, a business executive, had said he wanted another term to continue leading board efforts to deal with financial belt-tightening.

LaMonte previously ran for the board in 2005, coming in a close fourth in a race for three seats. A former business consultant, LaMonte became a full-time mom to her three children and active district volunteer. This year, she became an assistant to the principal of Peninsula High.

Chooljian has volunteered at rival Palos Verdes High and is a radiologist at Little Company of Mary Medical Center in San Pedro.
